Yesterday, December 15, 2025, in the afternoon hours, a report was received that a man had caused a fire on the first floor of a house in the Solin area and that he had a gas cylinder in the apartment. The people who were in the house left it, and members of all emergency services were immediately sent to the scene: firefighters, ambulance, police officers from the Solin Police Station and a tactical team of police officers from the special police with a negotiator.
In order to protect people, a wider area of the scene was secured and people were evacuated from the neighboring house as well. Arriving at the scene, the tactical team and the negotiator determine that the person is in an apartment on the first floor, from which smoke is coming out and fire is visible.
Police officers immediately intervened to try to save a man who was in an apartment engulfed in flames. Upon reaching the front door, they broke it down and used a fire extinguisher to try to put out the fire in the hallway of the apartment, but since the fire had already spread, it was impossible to enter the apartment and reach the man.
While the firefighters are trying to put out the fire, at the same time, considering that the fire has spread throughout the apartment and the attic, the police officers of the tactical team are transferred to the eastern balcony where, with the help of a demolition agent, they break the balcony glass in order to try to get the man out of the apartment.
A special police officer notices a man lying motionless on the floor in the living room and, in order to save him, enters the living room, pulls the person out onto the balcony, after which he and other colleagues immobilize him and together lower him from the first floor to the ground floor where he is taken over by emergency medical personnel and taken to the hospital for medical attention.
He was kept in the hospital for further treatment. From the time he arrived at the scene until the end of the intervention, the special police officers implemented all necessary measures and actions to protect the lives of people and made every effort to try to save the life of the man who was in the burning apartment.
The scene has been secured and an investigation will be conducted.
