This plant could be the "holy grail for health," but in fact it is often just a garden decoration, experts claim.
Watercress has been named the healthiest plant in the world due to its abundance of nutrients that can prevent disease and protect athletes from injury, reports Klix.ba.
This healthiest vegetable in the world scored a perfect 100 out of 100 points, leaving behind Chinese cabbage (91.99 points), Swiss chard (89.27 points), beets (87.08 points), and even spinach (86.43 points), according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
It is full of healthy ingredients
Watercress is high in amino acids and antioxidants. Other benefits include high amounts of iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and vitamin K.
In terms of cultivation, watercress lettuce thrives best on bodies of water. In nature, it grows on sources of clean water, streams, rivers and along the shores of lakes. With a slightly bitter taste, watercress is very similar to honeysuckle.
You can add watercress to a salad, smoothie, sandwich, tortilla, omelet or pizza, but also soup, sandwiches, various sauces and cheeses.
