On the occasion of Police Day and the feast of Saint Michael, the patron saint of police officers, the Split-Dalmatia Police Department organized a ceremonial academy at which recognition was given to police officers, as well as partners who contribute to community safety with their work, writes Digital Dalmatia.
In addition to representatives of the police leadership, the ceremony was attended by the Prefect of the Split-Dalmatia County, Blaženko Boban, representatives of institutions, unions, associations, and numerous guests.
A special place among the awardees was taken by Digital Dalmacija, which received a certificate of appreciation for successful partnership with the Police Administration, specifically for the development and construction of the Safe in Dalmatia web application, a digital guide for the safety of tourists and citizens.
In his speech, the Chief of the Split-Dalmatia Police Department, Marko Srdarević, highlighted the courage and professionalism of the police officers. In addition to thanking his employees, he also stressed the importance of cooperation with institutions and partners outside the police system.
Digital Dalmatia, in partnership with the Police Department, is actively cooperating in the further development and growth of the Safe in Dalmatia project.
The idea came from the Social Tech program of Digital Dalmatia, the first of its kind in Croatia, which gives young programmers the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained at EDIT trainings to real projects that benefit the community.
The award was accepted on behalf of Digital Dalmacija by host Damir Brčić, who thanked them for the trust they had shown:
"This is an award for all young people who study, program and want to leave a mark on society with their work. We have shown that digital solutions can be much more than business projects, they can be projects that help the community, maintain safety and build the future. I would like to thank the Police Department and all partners for recognizing us as collaborators."

County Prefect Blaženko Boban emphasized that the Split-Dalmatia County is proud that it is becoming an example to other regions through projects like Digital Dalmatia:
"The Digital Dalmatia Award confirms the importance of cooperation between institutions and young experts. This recognition shows that investing in knowledge and new ideas yields real results. With its projects, Digital Dalmatia brings technological progress, security, trust and a better quality of life to our county. I am proud that the Split-Dalmatia County is at the forefront of such examples of cooperation."
We would like to extend special thanks to the Head of Prevention, Paško Ugrini, and spokesperson Antonela Lolić for the invitation and support, and especially to the entire Police Department for the recognition.
Digital Dalmatia has shown that citizens and guests can be protected with innovative solutions, and this is exactly what makes the community better and safer.
