Police officers from the Second Police Station in Split have completed a criminal investigation into a 27-year-old driver who was suspected of driving a personal vehicle on the Obala Kneza Domagoj in Split yesterday, September 24, 2025, while he was under a protective measure prohibiting him from driving a category B motor vehicle until November 2025, and did not have a driver's license.
At around 11:40 a.m., police officers stopped a private vehicle with a taxi license plate, and two people were in the back seat of the vehicle, who were interviewed. The license plate on the vehicle was temporarily seized, and a report will be submitted to the Road Traffic Inspection Service so that they can carry out the procedure within their jurisdiction.
The driver was taken to court in an urgent procedure, where it was proposed that he be detained and that he be sentenced to 30 days in prison for the offense committed. Also, the investigation conducted determined that there was a reasonable suspicion that the 27-year-old had committed a criminal offense of fraud, in that on September 19, at around 12:10 p.m., in Split, on the Obala kneza Domagoj, near the ferry port, in his capacity as a taxi driver, acting with the aim of obtaining unlawful material gain, he offered a ride to the injured Indian citizen and falsely told him that the price of the ride to a location in the Split area would be around 20
up to 25 euros. Upon arriving at the said location, he told the injured party that he had to pay the amount of 184,00 euros for the said ride and that he would then be issued an invoice. The injured party paid the amount with a bank card, but he was not issued an invoice for the service provided, which is why a criminal complaint was filed against the driver with the competent Municipal State Attorney's Office in Split.
