On Wednesday, the Croatian Parliament will discuss amendments to the Criminal Code that revise the criminal offense of bribing representatives and introduce a new criminal offense - endangering life and property with an artificial intelligence system.
"Recognizing the fact of the development of artificial intelligence technology, especially its application in automated vehicles, and the associated threats to life, body and property, it is proposed to introduce a new criminal offense - endangering life and property with an artificial intelligence system," said Habijan, presenting a package of judicial laws to the Government.
Representatives will also discuss amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act and amendments to the Act on the Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime.
The amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act aim to speed up the criminal proceedings themselves and therefore simplify the proceedings before the indictment panel, and it is also proposed that no separate appeal is permitted against the decision deciding on the exclusion of evidence.
The amendments to the Act on the Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime will relieve the Zagreb County Court of its burden by expanding the jurisdiction of the Varaždin County Court, which will also take over the jurisdiction of the Bjelovar County Court. It will also enable USKOK to work more efficiently in more complex corruption criminal cases.
