
After a 15-year-old boy from the Trogir area was seriously injured while riding an electric scooter, Trogir Police Station responded promptly in cooperation with local schools, sending parents an important message about child safety in traffic. According to unofficial information, the boy suffered serious head injuries and is in a life-threatening condition. He is being treated in the Children's Intensive Care Unit of the Split Clinical Hospital, where he is placed in an induced coma, it writes Trogir portal.
This accident once again highlighted the serious risks that electric scooters pose, especially when used by minors without protective equipment and without respecting traffic rules.
To prevent similar incidents, Trogir schools, in coordination with the police, immediately responded by sending an official warning to parents via school communication channels. The notice highlighted the most important rules for riding scooters, including:
Mandatory wearing of a protective helmet, riding on bike paths or, if they do not exist, on pedestrian areas, pushing scooters across pedestrian crossings, reflective equipment and lights at night, a ban on driving for children under 14 years of age, a strict ban on driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication.
The police remind that fines for violations can range from 30 to as much as 2650 euros, with the possibility of confiscating the scooter, and that parents are responsible for children under the age of 14.
