The Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković, announced that the Croatian Parliament's autumn session will begin on the morning of Monday, September 15, and will run until October 31, writes HRT.
- After the current morning session, the agenda will include the Prime Minister's report on the European Council meetings, announced Jandroković after the session of the Presidency of the Croatian Parliament.
He also emphasized that during the first working week, MPs will work from Monday to Friday, and otherwise, as before, from Tuesday to Friday.
On Wednesday, September 17, the agenda will include the State Attorney's report on the work of state attorneys' offices in 2024, "so that colleagues from the SDP don't have to bother collecting signatures."
114 items on the agenda, 99 from the last session
There are 114 items on the agenda of the 7th session of the Croatian Parliament, 99 of which are from the previous session.
- We will work according to the following dynamics - three weeks, then a week's break, and then three weeks again, he added, noting that the session will be adjourned after All Saints' Day, after which it will begin with the second session and work until December 15th.
Changes to the Parliamentary Rules of Procedure
Jandroković reported that the Parliament Presidency session also discussed the Parliament's Rules of Procedure. It was agreed that discussions on its changes would be intensified.
- Everyone agrees that the work of the plenary session needs to be accelerated and the position of parliamentary committees strengthened, he said, and pointed out that a solution will be found in a month or two to work faster and more dynamically.
- Deputies are aware that long club discussions and individual discussions reduce attention and concentration on what is being discussed. This is especially true of clubs that have 15-minute presentations after which there are no replies. We agreed in principle that club discussions would be shortened from 15 to 10 minutes and individual discussions from 10 to 5 minutes, he said.
In addition, he added, it will be seen how violations of the Rules of Procedure and replies will be regulated.
Jandroković announced that the Three Seas Initiative summit will be held in the spring of next year. The leaders of numerous parliaments will be invited to it - 21 countries, of which 12 are participating countries, four are associated participants and five are strategic partners.
They will also soon form a committee that, on behalf of the parliamentarians, will negotiate with the designers of the parliament building, which is under renovation, how the space of the building will be organized.
