Croatia and Montenegro are "moving towards resolving" open issues after "good talks" between the prime ministers and heads of diplomacy of the two countries, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman said on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, the Croatian minister participated in the Bled Strategic Forum, where he also held a series of bilateral meetings. A day earlier, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and his Montenegrin counterpart Milojko Spajić had a bilateral meeting in the small Slovenian town, and Grlić Radman called those talks "good", as well as his meeting with the Montenegrin Minister of Foreign Affairs.
"We are moving in the direction of resolving" the open issues and "we have their willingness and promise" that we will resolve them "very soon," said Grlić Radman.
The Croatian foreign minister stated that some of these open issues are not only bilateral, but also universal in nature, such as compensation for Croatian citizens who were detained in Morinje and changing the name of the swimming pool that bears the name of one of the guards in that infamous camp.
Podgorica and Zagreb must also resolve the issue of the return of the school ship Jadran, and border issues are also on the agenda, the minister emphasized.
In Bled, he also met with the Egyptian and Jordanian heads of diplomacy, as well as with Karen Pierce, the British special envoy for the Western Balkans, and Florian Hahn, the state secretary for political affairs at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a statement to reporters, Grlić Radman also announced that he would be making bilateral visits to Jordan and Syria this month.
