"The time of adjustment is beginning and it is a real call to all entrepreneurs to start preparing well. A good number of entrepreneurs still use paper invoices, not only printing them from the program but actually using Word, Excel, similar applications to create invoices, and that everything goes down in history", she said Đurđica Mostarčić, from the Accountants Section of the Croatian Chamber of Crafts (HOK).
The new law – from September 1st, is also mandatory fiscalization of bills that are billed through online payment service. This adjustment is for January 1st, when VAT payers will have to issue e-invoices, and everyone will receive them. From 2027, e-invoices will also become mandatory for those outside the VAT system.
The two phases will cover more than 350.000 taxpayers.
"You're selling doors. Now you can't just write that you're selling doors, you have to put the KPD mark, which is required by law, which is specifically related to the door. Tthere will be very big problems", we are already seeing it on the ground because entrepreneurs have not yet come to terms with it," Mostarčić explained.
Penalties for violating the rules are up to several tens of thousands of eurosOn the other hand, less bureaucracy, according to estimates, could save entrepreneurs up to 120 million euros per year.
