Due to a fire that broke out early Monday morning above Jesenice and Sumpetar east of Split, the D8 road from Mutogras to Omiš was closed to all traffic from 6:15 a.m., creating kilometer-long queues as police on the ground stopped drivers and redirected traffic. The police have issued a statement about the traffic collapse that has been happening since morning, urging drivers to be patient and cautious.
- The closure of a section of the D8 road from Mutogras to Omiš has further affected the already complex traffic situation in the Split and surrounding areas, which is why we are calling on drivers to be extra patient and cautious.
Drivers traveling to Omiš are still being directed by police officers via Žrnovnica, while drivers going to Podstrana and residents of Podstrana are being allowed to travel along the D8 road to their destinations and homes. Police officers are still at the checkpoint near Stobreč and will remain on the ground until the D8 road is fully open to traffic.
We remind you that drivers from Omiš are diverted to the road via Tugar.
As of 1:45 p.m., the D8 is partially open in the direction from Split to Omiš - the police announced.
