On the eve of the military parade in Zagreb that will solemnly mark the 30th anniversary of the military-police operation Storm, the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Croatian Armed Forces, Zoran Milanović, issued a statement that N1we transmit in its entirety.
"This year, the 30th anniversary of the military-police operation Storm will be marked with a ceremonial military parade in Zagreb. As befits the celebration of the great victory that liberated Croatia, the military parade will demonstrate the readiness and equipment of the Croatian Army, which was, is and will remain the guarantor of the defense and security of the Croatian state - the Croatian people, Croatian borders and Croatian sovereignty."
The military parade in honor of Operation Storm will remind us of another, equally important fact that we must never forget: Croatia was defended in 1991 and liberated in 1995 solely because of the unity and harmony of the Croatian people! Never before has the Croatian people been so united and united in their desire to create, defend, and liberate their state. The people who led the Homeland War, and the first among them, Dr. Franjo Tuđman, understood the lessons from Croatia's long history and knew that Croats can only create and preserve an independent Croatian state through their own strength and harmony.
The opponent of the Croatian state at that time was not only an enemy with a weapon in his hand, there were many opponents at the green tables, both in 1991 and 1995, and there were few friends. But the Croatian people were united in their desire to defend and liberate their homeland and to live in an independent, sovereign and democratic Croatia. The differences between us, which exist in every nation, in the defense and liberation of Croatia became an anchor that holds us together, and not a furrow of division that has always only weakened Croatia and prevented it from realizing its right to an independent state.
At the military parade on July 31, along with Croatian soldiers, their NCOs and officers, members of the Croatian police, fire brigades and Civil Protection units will march, as well as members of historical units from all parts of Croatia. Veterans of the Homeland War will bring the Croatian tricolor to the cadets of the Croatian Armed Forces. Together, they will show that Croatia is strongest when it is united and united! Let's do everything we can to ensure that it remains that way after the parade marking the 30th anniversary of Operation Storm, because in a world that is changing dramatically and unpredictably, only we care about Croatia again."
