Grants from the Competitiveness and Cohesion program have been approved, and thanks to the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, 21 million euros have arrived in Split for the reconstruction and expansion of the St. Peter's Pier. Today, a contract for professional construction supervision services was signed with the consortium of bidders RZN-con doo and Eptisa Adria doo and the contractor, the consortium of bidders TEXO MOLIOR doo and Victor Energy doo
The Port of Split, as the largest passenger port in the Republic of Croatia and a key point of the core Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), recorded a traffic of 6.018.513 passengers and 1.028.017 vehicles in 2024, confirming its role as the main maritime transport hub of the Adriatic. Seasonal traffic concentration and daily challenges in embarking and disembarking passengers and vehicles require systematic infrastructure solutions. In this context, the project of reconstruction and extension of the St. Peter's Pier was launched, as a response to the operational needs of the present and the strategic requirements of the future.
The project includes the extension of the wharf, which provides an additional 5.350 m² of operational area. By building two new and upgrading three existing ro-ro ramps, there will be five ro-ro berths on the wharf (2 × 100 m, 1 × 108 m, 1 × 147 m, 1 × 188 m), which significantly increases the capacity for receiving ferries and accelerates the flow of traffic. This reduces stoppages, shortens
boarding and disembarkation times, and the overall flow of vehicles and passengers increases.
The modernization includes the installation of a new substation and a 72 kW electrical connection. The lighting system will be replaced with LED lamps resistant to marine conditions, and the sewage and storm drainage will be completely reconstructed.
A special element of the functional upgrade is represented by modular facilities, which include a café, ticket sales modules, toilets, ATM, staff module and luggage storage. These facilities are designed to support daily operations and improve the user experience for passengers.

The total value of the project is EUR 21.172.583,46, of which EUR 20.893.360,42 are eligible costs (for EU co-financing, due to the planned concession of modular facilities). The project is financed from the Cohesion Fund of the European Union and the State Budget of the Republic of Croatia, without the need for the user's own funds. The implementation period is 25 months, and the works, as we learned, begin immediately after the end of the tourist season, and the project holder is the Port Authority of Split.
The project contributes to achieving key sustainable transport goals. Reducing air and noise pollution, especially in the city center and port area. Optimizing passenger and vehicle flows, through faster boarding and disembarking and reducing operational costs.
congestion. Strengthening regional accessibility and connectivity with the islands, especially in high season. Increasing safety and quality of service, with an emphasis on infrastructure modernization, better equipment and integration with other forms of transport.
- This project represents an important step forward in the modernization of the City Port of Split and makes a measurable contribution to long-term sustainability, energy efficiency and the integration of the City Port of Split into the European network of smart, safe and accessible transport infrastructure - stated the Port Authority of Split headed by Vic Mihanović.
