During the Angelus, Pope Leo XIV reflected on the attack on the Catholic Church of the Holy Family in Gaza three days ago. He expressed regret for the three lives lost and called on the international community to protect civilians, writes HRT.
"This act, unfortunately, contributes to the current military attacks on the civilian population and places of worship in Gaza. Once again, I call for an immediate end to the barbarity of war," said Pope Leo XIV.
- I appeal to the international community: respect humanitarian law and the obligation to protect civilians, as well as the prohibition of collective punishment, indiscriminate use of force and forced displacement of populations. To our beloved Middle Eastern Christians, I say: I am close to you in your sense of helplessness as you face such a dramatic situation. You are in the heart of the Pope and of the entire Church. Thank you for your witness of faith, he added.
