Political tensions in Split are not easing even after the election of the City Council President, and the main unknown remains who was the key, 16th vote for the HDZ majority, writes N1.
Although the vote was secret – at the suggestion of an SDP councilor Davor Matijević – Some councilors took photos of their ballots immediately after the session and distributed them publicly, wanting to show that they did not support the HDZ proposal, reports Index.
Matijević joined the increasingly heated debate yesterday, accusing Bojan Ivošević that he was the one who made the ballots that were used for voting.
"The idea of a secret ballot was not mine, but the mutual agreement was that Skoko would propose Prkić at the session, and that I would propose a secret ballot, after which the Center would support it. Bojan made ballots and distributed them to the councilors, we (Katarina, Jakov and I) took our pictures with personal, not chemical, fans and showed them to the press immediately after the vote. I don't play stupid games, and we will see everything else anyway at the rebalancing and at the budget," wrote Matijević.
"The Mystery of the 16th Hand"
Ivošević responded very quickly, accusing him of spreading falsehoods:
"Out of desperation, Davor Matijević even managed to write two lies in one post. 1) That the idea of a secret ballot was not his - it was stated that it was his idea and he asked Igor Skoka for this before the meeting itself. In the end, I proposed it to the council. 2) That I printed the ballots. A rather morbid accusation when everyone knows that the Department for the Work of the City Council made the aforementioned and all 31 ballots are identical and are kept in the city office administration. Matijević and Prnjak now have something in common. He sends the journalists pictures of forged WhatsApp messages, and she sends them pictures of forged ballots."
A well-known Facebook page also joined the discussion. Megatroll Split, which announced that the "mystery of the 16th hand" had been solved. According to their analysis, the person who voted differently from the rest of the opposition was SDP councilor Katarina Prnjak.
"Of all the published photos of the ballots, only one is different. The picture shows the ballots of the Center, Most, HGS and SDP (Matijević and Prnjak). Congratulations to the winner Prnjak and the HDZ on their new majority," they wrote.
They explained in detail the differences in the ballots, pointing out the positioning of the letters and the alignment of the "For", "Against" and "Abstain" options. They concluded that the deviations on Katarina Prnjak's ballots are a clear sign that she was the key 16th hand of the HDZ majority in the City Council.
