Mostar, female klapa liron received the highest overall score, followed closely by the klapa Delmates from Solin which is the best rated male klapa of the First Election Evening. Following with a small gap is the klapa Omis, and the singing groups also gave notable performances Banderia (m) from Zagreb, Opuzenska Aria (f), Skalin (m) from Matulji, Korčula women's klapa Scissors, Ero (m) from Mostar and Pharia (m) from Brusje.
"We never have expectations, but it's nice to know that the effort pays off, and a lot of effort is put into getting on the Omiš stage. We practice six hours a week. If we pass, I hope it will be even better in the final," she summed up her impressions. Monika Josipovic, leader of the Liron klapa.
Whether their high grades, as well as their colleagues' results last night, will be enough to advance to the finals will only be known on Saturday evening, after the selection nights have concluded. The grades were awarded last night by Expert jury consisting of: singer and long-time leader of the Maestral klapa Miho Bulić, klapa singer Zvonko Gilić, assistant professor of art Blaženko Juračić, master of music Antonela Burić and klapa composer and leader Ante Rados.
Can we already sense what awaits us after the First Election Night, we asked the Festival's artistic director Mojimir Chachi.
"It will be intense. Nothing is known until the final, third evening, but it has already been shown that the a capella groups are extremely prepared and have prepared, I would say, singable compositions, singable original songs. Tonight it turned out to be an extremely good decision and the audience reacted excellently. There was also a lot of emotion in the a capella group performances," the maestro noted.
The host of the evening at Omiš's Stjepan Radić Square, the famous Little Square, was Nikolina Tomas. The competition continues today at the same place, once again the powerful voices of the a capella group will echo through the streets of the city that is experiencing this Festival.
