On Monday, ahead of the constituent session of the Split-Dalmatia County, the Center party announced that it is entering the assembly with the aim of correcting the government, protecting the public interest and showing that there is a policy that works for the benefit of citizens, and not as an instrument of party interests.
The president of the Center Councilors' Club, Gorana Rosandić, said that, as in the past four years, she will do what "the HDZ government systematically avoids," which is to ask uncomfortable questions, warn about irregularities, and fight for changes that are persistently postponed because they threaten a privileged group that directly profits from politics.
"You will soon see again how members of the HDZ and Kerum coalition and their family members will be assigned to the governing councils and supervisory boards of county institutions and schools. We will analyze every item on the agenda, every euro from the budget, every decision and every procedure," said Rosandić.
She claimed that the Split-Dalmatia County has been used for years as a tool for favoritism, for granting concessions without control, for employment without public tenders, and for financing projects that are never implemented.
She announced that she would seek accountability for all questionable projects, from healthcare and waste to transport and infrastructure, and that money and jobs would no longer be distributed to brothers and friends, but rather according to clear criteria and with public control.
She invited the citizens to contact them and asserted that politics for them implies responsibility towards the citizens, which is why she will not allow the assembly to be a cover for the legalization of decisions that have been agreed in advance, behind closed doors.
"If the HDZ has a majority, we have the public and we will hold them accountable to the public for every decision they make. Our job is to be useful to citizens and to remind them that politics can and must be conducted in the public interest. From the first session, as always, the Center will be present, informed and vocal, without any hesitation," said Rosandić.
