The Mayor of Split, Tomislav Šuta, together with his deputies Mateo Dorčić and Ivo Bilić, held a working meeting with representatives of the City District of Grad, where they discussed the problems of tourist and communal overload in the daily life of the residents of the old city center, writes Split.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the city's utility companies, the Split-Dalmatia Police Department, and the State Inspectorate of the Republic of Croatia.
After the end of the meeting, the mayor of Šuta presented the adopted conclusions at the press conference, with which he will immediately start operational implementation.
"The waste transfer station is definitely being moved from the Đardin area, and the final location will be the recycling yard in Stinice. In the meantime, we need to define a transitional location. Đardin is absolutely not a suitable place for waste transfer. We will establish a working body for the safety of the city center during the tourist season, which will consist of representatives of the City, utility companies, the Police Department, the State Inspectorate and the City District. Furthermore, the plan for washing the streets of the city center should be improved. Washing should be done more often, both by machine washing and with water hoses," said Mayor Šuta, adding that he will insist on amendments to the Trade Act and the Hospitality Act in terms of time restrictions on the sale of alcoholic beverages.
Also, the mayor stated, portable chemical toilets will be installed at several locations in the city center during the tourist season. The head of the District, Lara Arapović Bonačić, also expressed satisfaction with the meeting and the adopted conclusions.
