A 25-year-old man, against whom the State Attorney's Office launched an investigation for rape and exploitation of children for pornography, has been sentenced to one month in custody.
The Split County State Attorney's Office reported on Wednesday that after questioning the suspect, it had launched an investigation into rape and multiple criminal acts of exploiting children for pornography.
"There is a reasonable suspicion that the defendant committed the aforementioned criminal acts during 2024 and early 2025 in the Split-Dalmatia County area," the prosecution reported, without revealing details.
After questioning the defendant, the Split County State Attorney's Office submitted a proposal to the investigating judge to order pretrial detention due to the risk of influencing witnesses and repeating the criminal offense.
The investigating judge accepted the proposal of the State Attorney's Office and ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody on the proposed legal grounds, the State Attorney's Office announced.
