
The fire that broke out in the Bilice prison in Split on Monday evening was extinguished by prison staff and firefighters evacuated the prisoners, several of whom sought medical attention due to smoke inhalation and were transported to the Split hospital, the Split Fire Operations Center reported.
"We received a report of a fire in one of the cells of Bilice prison at around 21:30 p.m. and upon the arrival of six firefighters with a vehicle, the prison staff had already mostly extinguished the fire, and the firefighters immediately evacuated the prisoners," the Fire Department told Hina.
They added that several prisoners sought medical attention for smoke inhalation and were transported to Split Hospital.
