On Wednesday, May 21st, a training ride for police officers - motorcyclists of the Split-Dalmatia Police Department was held at an improvised training ground in Dračevac.
Ahead of the tourist season and the time when police officers on motorcycles will be engaged for more time and perform tasks on the roads of the Split-Dalmatia County, the tradition of driving training for police officers continued this year at the training ground, where police officers on motorcycles showed enviable dexterity, and at the same time, after the winter weather, they tested and renewed their motorcycle driving skills, which is important for their safe participation in traffic.
The traffic polygon simulates situations similar to those that motorcyclists normally encounter in traffic, such as slalom riding, riding in circles, entering and exiting corners, moving and stopping properly, braking at lower speeds, and other actions. Given the weight of motorcycles, it is also extremely important to master the techniques of maintaining balance and slow driving, which is characteristic of city driving.
Advice for motorcycle and moped drivers
Before hitting the roads this season, we advise moped and motorcycle drivers to:
check the technical condition of the devices on their vehicles, check the condition of their equipment and make sure to use it, adjust driving speed to road conditions, do not drive slalom between vehicles, comply with all legal regulations
We would like to take this opportunity to once again draw the attention of all road users to the need for caution and compliance with traffic regulations, especially for moped and motorcycle drivers who are increasingly present on our roads after the arrival of better weather. We advise them to check the condition of their engines before participating in traffic, and then check their skills in driving a moped or motorcycle.
While riding a motorcycle, do not forget the obligation to respect the speed limit, use protective helmets and do not overestimate your driving skills.
Riding a motorcycle is a skill and like any other, it grows and develops with practice and it takes time to become a great motorcycle rider. A great rider is not the one who rides fast, but the one who rides safely. Control your behavior and passion for riding, do not test the limits on the road.
