The Rotary Club of Split invites you to a free public lecture by one of the most prominent Croatian intellectuals – Slobodan Prosperov Novak – who will speak in Split about Croatian identity in a way that connects the past, the present, and personal responsibility.
In a time when identity is often perceived as a finished thing, rather than a process of creation and search, Novak opens the story of Croatian being through three historical figures: St. Jerome, Grga Novak, and Vlado Gotovac – people who, each in their own time, asked the question of who we are and what kind of mark we leave behind.
Slobodan Prosperov Novak, a literary historian, theatre scholar, essayist and professor with a rich career at the universities of Zagreb, Rome, Split and Yale, will combine culture, history and an inner call to responsibility with his distinctive style. His lectures are not just a transfer of knowledge – they are an experience that inspires, stimulates thought and remains long in the memory.
Join this special cultural event organized by the Rotary Club of Split and be part of the conversation about what makes us – us.
The public lecture will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Hotel Park, Hatzeov perivoj 3, Split at 18 p.m.
ADMISSION IS FREE
