Two weeks before the local elections, the mayors of seven out of a total of 127 cities and 112 out of a total of 428 municipalities can already celebrate because they are the only candidates in their units, which means that the elections on May 18th are a pure formality for them, and most of them are from the HDZ.
Four years ago, the names of 72 municipal heads and mayors and the composition of 15 municipal or city councils were known in advance, and now the names of 119 mayors and mayors and the composition of 35 local councils are known.
All seven mayors are from the HDZ, and that party, along with the occasional coalition, already has about 70 mayors. HDZ members Marica Jančić, Dinko Bošnjak and Davor Lončar secured their ninth mandate each, led by Marija Gorica, Hrvaci and Poličnik. Bošnjak also had the support of the DP.
