A continuing education course for doctors "Premature Birth" was held in Split organized by the Split branch of the Croatian Medical Association, the Split Clinical Hospital Center and the University Department of Health Studies of the University of Split, writes Kbsplit.
80 participants and 23 lecturers from Croatia and abroad shared the latest scientific findings and exchanged practical experiences, and the course was special because it had a humanitarian character. More than 3.000 euros were raised for the "Palčići" Club of Parents of Premature Babies.
"Premature birth is indisputably the greatest challenge, unknown and controversy of modern perinatology. Despite the progress of medical science and clinical practice, we have witnessed that its frequency has remained almost unchanged in the last fifty years. The final outcome of premature births is significantly better, but not because of more successful prevention, diagnosis or treatment, but largely as a result of the progress of neonatology and medicine as a whole. In this context, the position of the gynecologist is also changing, who modifies his own protocols in accordance with the improved possibilities of postpartum care The above-mentioned dynamic balance of teamwork determines the modern approach to understanding and attitudes towards premature birth", emphasized Assoc. Ph.D. Zdeslav Benzon, President of the Organizing Committee.
Head of the Split branch of the Club of Parents of Premature Babies "Palčići" Anita Talaja She thanked the organizers and all those present for the invitation, the valuable donation, the cooperation so far, and everything they do for all Palčići. "Thank you for giving us the opportunity to learn a lot and see what premature birth looks like from your medical perspective."
