Zagreb police reported that six people sought medical attention on Monday due to suspected food poisoning in a student cafeteria on Kačićeva Street, two of whom were detained at the Dr. Fran Mihaljević Clinic for Infectious Diseases.
Police added that another person subsequently sought help at the Sisters of Mercy Hospital, and one refused medical attention despite her symptoms.
The State Inspectorate and the Sanitary Inspectorate also acted on suspicion of poisoning, the police added.
According to media reports, medical help was sought by students of the Zagreb Faculty of Geodesy who immediately after lunch in the cafeteria experienced sudden symptoms of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
The media added that they all had lunch together and that the symptoms appeared at the same time, which is why they believe the cause could be food from the cafeteria.
On Monday, the Student Union of the Faculty of Geodesy announced on social networks that they should be careful, instructing students to immediately seek medical help in case of symptoms of food poisoning.
