PEACEFUL PROTEST BY PARENTS IN 20 CITIES IN CROATIA
The civic initiative "For Children" is organizing a protest that will take place tomorrow, April 22nd, throughout Croatia, for changes to the law on child benefit. Among the numerous cities, 20 in total, that have joined the organization of the protest is the city of Split, where protesters will gather at the bottom of Marmontova from 16 p.m. to convey the message that child benefit is not a social measure, but the right of every child.
Parents are demanding the abolition of the census, a fixed child allowance in the amount of one hundred euros, and for children with developmental disabilities, a fixed child allowance for the first and second degree of impairment in the amount of 150 euros, and a fixed child allowance for the third and fourth degree of impairment in the amount of 200 euros.
- There is no political option behind this action, nor is there any intention to side with it in the future, the organizers emphasize.
The protest will be held tomorrow, in addition to Split, in Zagreb, Sisak, Zadar, Zabok, Vinkovci, Bjelovar, Slavonski Brod, Karlovac, Pula, Vukovar, Čakovec, Virovitica, Šibenik, Osijek, Požega, Varaždin, Lošinj, and Rijeka and Delnice.
- We invite you to support children and all families in the Republic of Croatia at the protest taking place on April 22, 2023 at 4 p.m. (Osijek at 5 p.m.) in 20 cities in our beautiful country. Introduce your families, acquaintances, neighbors and followers to the civic initiative that is currently fighting for the right to child benefit for every child in the country, an increase in child benefit for children with disabilities and the complete abolition of the child benefit census. We believe that you will recognize the importance of this initiative and the importance of urgently amending the law on child benefit, which has not changed for over 20 years and whose amounts are so miserable that we can be ashamed in front of other EU countries. This is for all children and all of us and for the betterment of every family in our country - says the call of the Civic Initiative "For Children".
