
On Saturday, December 13, the 18th General Assembly of the Croatian Democratic Union Youth was held in Zagreb, concluding the election process for the National and Supervisory Boards and other leading bodies of the HDZ Youth. The Assembly brought together a large number of delegates from all over Croatia, as well as numerous party officials, confirming the important role of youth in the political activities of the HDZ.
At the Parliament, Solinjanin was elected by unanimous decision Ivan Skelin, President of the County Organization of the HDZ Youth of the Split-Dalmatia County, for President of the National Committee of the HDZ Youth. This once again confirmed the strength, continuity and recognizable quality work of the Split-Dalmatia organization, whose contribution is now clearly valued at the national level.
Along with Ivan Skelin, a significant number of representatives from the Split-Dalmatia County were elected to the highest bodies of the HDZ Youth. Matea Kavelj, Ivana Runjić, Mateo Bosančić and Marija Jurić were elected as members of the National Committee, while Ivan Jagnjić was elected as the vice-president of the HDZ Youth. Additional recognition of the work and engagement of the youth from the Split-Dalmatia County is the election of Marija Draganić and Nikola Prce as members of the HDZ Youth Presidency.
In his post-election address, Ivan Skelin thanked for the trust shown, emphasizing that the unanimous support was the greatest confirmation that the work had been done responsibly, seriously and meaningfully in the past period, both at the county and national levels. He emphasized that in the next two years of leading the National Committee, his special focus would be to further strengthen activities aimed at the younger generations and to strengthen their role within the party and society as a whole.
At the proposal of the president of the HDZ Youth, Tin Jurak, a new leadership of the National Committee was elected, along with Ivan Skelin. Mateo Vranjković from Osijek-Baranja County, Matea Obajdin Gaši from Karlovac County, Ante Starčević from Lika-Senj County and Anđela Širinić from Šibenik-Knin County were appointed as vice-presidents, while Dražen Petrović from Krapina-Zagorje County was elected as secretary of the National Committee.
Special thanks are extended to former members of the National Committee, Josip Gojak and Jelena Ćurković, who after a successful mandate are moving into senior party ranks, with recognition for their contribution to the work of the HDZ Youth.
The general assembly was held with the strong support of the party leadership, and the participants were addressed by the President of the HDZ and the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, who emphasized the importance of including young people in political processes and their key role in shaping future policies. Thanks were also extended to the former President of the HDZ Youth, Maksimilijan Šimrak, today a member of parliament and vice president of the Zagreb HDZ, for his dedicated work and contribution to the development of the organization.
The newly elected leadership of the HDZ Youth, led by president Tino Jurak, announced the continuation of strong activities aimed at young people, proposing concrete measures and policies to improve their position, and even greater visibility and presence of the HDZ Youth in all parts of Croatia.
The results of the 18th General Assembly are a strong confirmation of trust in the work of the Split-Dalmatia organization of the HDZ Youth and additional motivation for the continuation of responsible and engaged activities in the years to come.
