
Pension payments begin on Monday, after which pensioners will receive their first annual allowance. New increases are coming from January through regular pension adjustments, as well as legal changes. Disability pensions will increase by ten percent, and penalties for those over 70 in early retirement will be abolished. Pensioners over 65 will be able to work full-time, but with half their pension, it says N1.
Pension payments for November begins on Monday, December 8, 2025, the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute announced today. Some pensioners have already received their pensions from the first day of the month, depending on the bank where they have their account.
The first annual supplement is coming this month.
The good news is that the first annual pension supplement is coming this month. The exact date is not known, but the deputy director of the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute, Ivo Bulaja He said that the payment could be made in mid-December. The bonus is six euros per year of service, and more than 180 cities and municipalities pay Christmas bonuses to pensioners, but most often depending on the census.
The average total pension paid in November was 689 euros. The share of such pensions in the salary is 47,3 percent, according to data from the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute. If we look only at pensions according to general regulations, for all 1,13 million beneficiaries the average is 560 euros. The share of such workers' pensions in the salary is only 38 percent. Without pensioners who receive pensions according to international agreements, the average workers' pension rises to 636 euros, it says Pension.hr.
New increases for some pensioners from January
The average old-age pension is 695 euros, with the most favorable one for long-term insured persons. The average disability pension is 465 euros, with a 32 percent share in the salary, and the family pension is 531 euros with a 36,5 percent share. Beneficiaries who have been paid a personal and part of a family pension have 708 euros on average, or a 48,7 percent share in the salary. The 278.000 beneficiaries of the lowest pension, which averages 449 euros and makes up only about 30 percent of the average salary, are in the worst position.
After the annual bonus payment, pensioners will receive another increase in their pensions from January 1. From that date, they will be adjusted again according to price and wage increases by law, but this payment will not be made until April. At the same time, according to the pension reform from July, disability pensions will be increased by 10 percent from January. Penalties will be abolished for pensioners over 70 in early retirement, and those over 65 will be able to work full-time from January, but with half their pension.
