On October 7, 2025, police officers from the First Police Station in Split conducted a targeted surveillance operation of drivers and vehicles providing taxi services in the Split area. The surveillance was conducted in the city of Split, and included a large number of taxi vehicles and drivers. During the surveillance, several irregularities and violations from the Road Traffic Safety Act and regulations regulating the provision of taxi services were identified.
Two taxi drivers were sanctioned for refusing to undergo drug testing, while two drivers were caught driving without the necessary permit to travel on the said section. One van driver who used the "TAXI" sign, even though he does not perform that activity, had his sign revoked.
Irregularities in the operations of several taxi carriers were also identified, such as failure to state the prices of rides in the vehicle, performing activities without a concluded work contract with the carrier, as well as the use of permits that were not issued for specific vehicles.
In particular, it was determined that one company had a license for taxi transport in the Split area for only one vehicle, while during the inspection other vehicles with copies of the same license, which were not authorized to perform such activities, were also observed.
Due to the established violations of the Road Traffic Safety Act, the drivers were sanctioned at the scene, while other irregularities observed related to the provision of taxi services will be reported to the competent inspection, whose jurisdiction it is.
