
On Thursday, October 1st, retirees gathered at the Lažani Retirement Association premises to have fun and celebrate the International Day of Older Persons with live music. This is a traditional gathering organized by the Lažani Retirement Association from Kaštel Kambelovac.
The retired people gathered at last night's gathering, where there was no shortage of dancing and singing, demonstrated that senior citizens know how to have fun and have fun, even better than most of their much younger counterparts.
The Head of the Administrative Department for Social Activities and Common Affairs, Antonia Kljaić, came to offer support to the retirees. She congratulated them on their day and emphasized the efforts of the Kaštela retiree associations in developing the social life of senior citizens in the city.
- We celebrate the International Day of Older Persons on October 1st, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our fellow citizens of the elderly on behalf of the City of Kaštela for their ongoing contribution to the development of our community. There are currently three pensioner associations in Kaštela that are truly dedicated to encouraging and developing the social life of the elderly. The City of Kaštela has so far supported all of their projects, and I believe that we will continue to do so, because our common goal is to improve the quality of life, the availability of services, intergenerational solidarity and the inclusion of the elderly in all aspects of social life – said the head of the association, Ms. Kljaić.
The president of the Lažani association, Mate Taraš, also addressed the retirees, congratulating them on their day. Taraš emphasized the importance of this day for all retirees and told them to enjoy it.
A series of meals and good drinks, a series of songs and dances are just part of the evening that pensioners and the elderly enjoyed and thus celebrated their day, which has been celebrated for 35 years, according to the decision of the United Nations General Assembly, with the aim of promoting sustainable active aging in communities.
