As part of the "Open Door Days" event, the puppet show "Marko Polo" produced by the Kaštela Theatre was performed at the Cultural Center in Kaštel Lukšić on Wednesday. The show tells the story of the famous explorer through a combination of classical music, lighting effects and various puppetry techniques.
The play was conceived by Katarina Simsig, who conceived the story and created the puppets, while Justina Vojaković-Fingler directed and wrote the text. The performance used table puppets, Javanese puppets, and shadow puppetry, creating a special visual dimension that connects Marko's travels with the discovery of new, magical worlds.
The ensemble consists of Mirna Simsig-Jerkunica, Antonija Štrlić-Stipčić, Marija Milanović, Petra Gudelj, Vedran Miletić and Darija Matošić-Božan. For some of the cast, this was their first time on stage, and preparing for the performance required mastering new techniques and approaches to puppetry.
Despite the rainy weather, the play attracted a significant number of children accompanied by their parents. The audience followed the performance with enthusiasm, and first impressions confirm that the Kaštela Theatre has once again managed to offer high-quality and impressive cultural content.
