Last weekend, members of the Croatian Mountaineering Society Kozjak successfully held their sixth children's camp in a row at the "Marinovac" location by Lake Buško. Although the camp was postponed twice due to bad weather, the last weekend before the start of the new school year was still marked by games, socializing, and spending time in nature.
The idea of the camp, which has already become a tradition, is to introduce children to the beauty of hiking and being outdoors, to develop a love of nature, and to provide an experience that cannot be experienced in front of a screen. The children who once participated in the first camps are now teenagers and high school students, and a new, younger generation of members is readily taking over the tents and campfires.
Little campers enjoyed playing and socializing
During the day, the little campers enjoyed swimming, playing and flying kites on the sandy beach, while the evenings were reserved for socializing by the fire. The adults took care of the barbecue, the children helped prepare the wood, and the singing and music echoed until late at night. A visit to the eco-village also gave the camp a special charm, where the children enjoyed lunch and sweet pancakes.
- Spending time in nature is irreplaceable for children's development. Here they learn resourcefulness, togetherness and responsibility, while at the same time creating memories that they will carry throughout their lives - said the HPD Kozjak.
The sixth children's camp at Lake Buško once again showed how important it is to give children the opportunity to grow up by the mountains, forests, and lakes - because it is in nature that they learn the most valuable lessons.
