On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, police officers from the Split Traffic Police Station in the Kaštel Sućurac area issued a stop order to a motorcycle driver who ignored the order and continued to flee towards Split, ignoring the light and sound signals with which the police officers again issued an order to stop. The motorcycle driver continued to drive towards Split and, by violating traffic regulations, endangered all road users.
Police officers stopped him in Split, and used force against him because he actively resisted arrest. Preliminary testing revealed the presence of drugs in his system. The motorcycle was temporarily seized and placed within the police station. The man was arrested and brought to the official premises.
The criminal investigation conducted established the existence of reasonable suspicion that the 61-year-old driver, riding a motorcycle without license plates, did not stop at the command of police officers, but continued to drive the motorcycle under the influence of drugs and, despite the order issued by police officers using light and sound signals, refused to do so. In the process, he committed several violations under the Road Traffic Safety Act in the areas of Kaštela, Solin and Split by running red lights at traffic-controlled intersections, overtaking a convoy of vehicles, driving in the opposite prohibited direction, thereby endangering the lives of other road users, or under the influence of drugs, by reckless driving, thereby endangering other road users, thereby committing the criminal offense of reckless driving in road traffic under Article 226 of the Criminal Code.
The criminal investigation established the existence of a reasonable suspicion that a 61-year-old man was driving a motorcycle from Kaštel Sućurac to Split on the same occasion, ignoring the warnings and orders of police officers to stop the entire way, and in order to prevent police officers from carrying out traffic control and supervision, at 9:48 p.m. upon arriving at
intersection of Vukovarska and Ninska streets in Split, having noticed an official motorcycle driven by a police officer on his left side, who tried to stop him, he suddenly turned and hit the front of the official motorcycle with his left side, causing the police officer to lose control of the motorcycle and fall to the floor, sustaining minor bodily injuries. After that, the suspect continued to move along Ninska street all the way to Tavelićeva street, where he was arrested by police officers. In order to prevent the police officer from performing his official duties, he put the police officer in danger, which resulted in minor bodily injury, and thus committed the criminal offense of Coercion against an official person under Article 314, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code.
He was handed over to the detention supervisor with a criminal complaint.
