Numerous believers visited Marian shrines yesterday to pray and thank the Blessed Virgin Mary through pilgrimage and then mass celebration on her feast day, the Feast of the Assumption, which celebrates the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin into heaven.
In addition to the pilgrimage to Sinj, the faithful from Kaštela participated in mass celebrations in their parishes yesterday and during the holiday. According to tradition, the feast of the Assumption is especially celebrated in the parishes in Kaštel Novi and Kaštel Lukšić, as well as in Kaštel Sućurac, where the faithful will also celebrate the feast of St. Roch today, August 16th.
There was a particularly festive atmosphere in the parish in Kaštel Novi, where, according to tradition, a pilgrimage was made to the shrine of Our Lady of Stomorija on Thursday, the evening before the holiday. Numerous believers participated in the procession carrying the image of Our Lady from the parish church to the shrine, where a mass was celebrated, led by Don Jure Lovrinčević, parish priest of St. Mark's Parish, Makarska.
Then, yesterday, on the feast day itself, morning masses were held in the parish church of St. Peter the Apostle, one in the parish church and the other in the sanctuary, where an evening solemn concelebrated holy mass was also held, followed by a candlelight procession around the sanctuary of Our Lady of Stomorija. The Mass celebration was led by the parish priest, Don Gabriel Kamber.
The parishioners of Lukšić celebrated the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the day of their town with a solemn evening mass in the parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The mass, led by Don Mate Mihaljević, was preceded by a procession through the town. The gathered faithful in a procession with the image of Our Lady walked through the streets of their town and then participated in the mass celebration.
On the day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, a traditional procession was held from the parish church in Kaštel Sućurac to the shrine of Our Lady of the Cold, where a holy mass was held, led by Fr. Josip Jurak. On the feast day itself, in addition to the holy masses in the parish church, solemn holy masses were also held in the shrine, the morning mass with the procession was led by Dr. Don Alojzije Čondić.
Parishioners from Sućurac and Štafilić are also celebrating the feast of Saint Roch today. Holy Masses in Sućurac will be held at 7 o'clock in the sanctuary, and in the parish church at 9 o'clock, led by the parish priest Don Ivan Delić. In the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Cold, a solemn Holy Mass with a procession will be held at 18 o'clock, led by Dr. Don Antun Mate Antunović. The local committee of Kaštel Štafilić, in cooperation with the Gabine Association, is organizing a folk festival in honor of Saint Roch, on Saturday, August 16, starting at 19 o'clock in front of the Nehaj Tower in Kaštel Štafilić.
