KASTELA WILL RELIEVE THE SPIRIT OF A FAMOUS LOVE STORY
For the twelfth year in a row, the City of Kaštela and the Kaštela Tourist Board have been trying to brand Kaštela as the city of love through a diverse cultural program. One of them is the event "Days of Miljenko and Dobrila", as part of which we can expect a series of events with novelties from August 2 to 10. The program was presented today at Villa Nika, and was attended by Mayor Denis Ivanović, Director of the Kaštela Tourist Board Nada Maršić and project coordinator Marijana Vulas.
The central event of this year's program is the re-enactment of the legend of Miljenko and Dobrila, inspired by the novel of the same name by Marko Kažotić. The script and direction are by Marijana Vulas, who has introduced new elements into the well-known love story – peasant characters who, through their dialogues, not only explain the social context of the event itself, but also revive the spirit of the Kaštela peasants in a humorous and authentic way, using the Chakavian dialect.

This year's title roles belong to Lukrecija Perišić (Dobrila), a drama teacher from Split, and Mate Tavrić (Miljenko), a graduate actor from Omiš. The rest of the cast is made up mostly of amateur actors from the areas of Kaštela, Trilj, Prološac and Split.
In addition to the theatrical staging of the legendary story of Miljenko and Dobrila, this year's Kaštela - City of Love program also brings a series of accompanying events that further enrich the city's cultural offering.
Marijana Vulas explained the novelties of this year's event.
The Days of Miljenko and Dobrila event thus continues its long tradition, and the director of the Kaštela Tourist Board, Nada Maršić, is very satisfied with the entire project.
- The program will be as rich as in previous years. As usual, we are opening with a performance, or rather a staging, as our Marijana would say, of the legend of Miljenka and Dobrila. The innovation that began a few years ago continues this year. It should be noted that as part of this year's event, the church of St. John the Baptist will be opened, where, according to legend, the grave of Miljenka and Dobrila is located, from the second to the tenth of August. During these days, free guided tours and storytelling will be organized for our fellow citizens and visitors from Vituri Castle to Rušinac Castle. Guests will have the opportunity to hear a story about the Kaštela from our costumed guides, with an emphasis on Miljenka and Dobrila - said Maršić, among other things.
Thus, the Kaštela Tourist Board, together with the City, continues to brand Kaštela in this way. Mayor Ivanović did not hide his satisfaction.
- The city of Kaštela has several of its own brands. First of all, we must emphasize the Kaštela Crljenak. Also, the Evenings of Dalmatian Letters were recently held, which have become deeply rooted in tradition. And we also put special emphasis on the story of Miljenko and Dobrila, which has been taking place for ten years through the Kaštela Cultural Summer. I notice that tourists are very interested in this love story. This is certainly something that we can offer both to the local audience and to our guests. First of all, I would like to thank the director of the tourist board who has been making efforts all these years to preserve this story in a quality way. There is also Marijana, who took the story into her own hands. She is our fellow citizen who knows this story best, and in the end she directed it and presented it in a positive light to the outside world.
