SECOND INTERNATIONAL BIG GAME FISHING COMPETITION
Preparations for this year's biggest international tournament in big game fishing, "Adriatic offshore tuna championship 2025," are coming to an end. , which takes place in Rogoznica from August 5 to 8. An impressive number of over 40 crews from 20 countries of the world is a guarantee of a top-class event that has both a sports and a touristic feature of the event, where the best teams participate in the competition for big fish, trophy tuna, pike, eels, eels, lampreys.
From top crews from Italy and Great Britain, guests from Senegal, and Americans, including Fly Navaro, the organizer of the world's biggest big game tournaments in the archipelago of the USA and Japan, whose prize funds are over one million euros.
Well, the English led by Jack Challis, there is also Chris Adams, along with numerous other mega-stars of big game fishing.
They are followed by fishermen from Switzerland, Hungary, then Monaco, France, Germany, Turkey,...
And then there are the representative species, the national champions of Slovenia, Montenegro and of course Croatia. The latter also has two representative crews that will defend the colors of our country at the World Big Game Fishing Championship, which is scheduled right after Rogoznica.
Starting on August 18th, they will be fishing in the waters off Marseille, France, with all the cream of the "big game", including the current Croatian champions, the Dubrovnik crew "Adria" of Captain Dragan Ćora, and the "Corta" of Captain Gordon Svalina from Kaštel Gomilica.
The people of Kaštela are the hosts of this year's second international spectacle "of the hook and trophy tuna" in Rogoznica.
"Adriatic offshore tuna championship 2025", why they chose that location, and how the preparations are going, was revealed to us by Nikša Jureškin, president of the Maritime Sports Association "Giričić".
− The reason is simple – the Rogoznica waters are now abundant with fish, primarily tuna. This is supported by last year's record statistics when we had 313 fish hits – says the club's first man, proud of another important milestone.
- To the members of our club who volunteered to help organize this competition! Thank them! And it all starts on the Rogoznica waterfront with the opening ceremony on Tuesday, and ends on Friday with the announcement of the winners and the awarding of valuable prizes. In addition to three fishing days, weighing the caught tuna, but above all the reception of all the crews who come to visit us, along with the organizational nuances of securing fishing rods, ice for fish, as well as conditions at sea, primarily safety. While the "sporting" ones, hunting according to the rules, will be monitored by chief judge Tonči Luketa. With a note that the fishing fleet will be located in the Kremik marina after two fishing days. All this needs to be coordinated, integrated and at the service of guests and anglers. Without the valuable members of Giričić, this would not be possible, and we all know that logistics is always the most important in the organization - Nikša Jureškin thanks his club colleagues, as well as partners in the organization itself, which is the Rogoznica Municipality Tourist Board, headed by director Ivan Ramljak.
In addition to another piece of information for those who are not fishermen - PSD Giričić and TZ Rogoznica have also taken care of top-notch entertainment on land.
On Friday, the popular Jole will perform on stage at the Rogoznica waterfront.
− And before the awards ceremony and the Jola concert, we have a gastro-eno evening, where local OPGs will offer their products, and we will provide tuna that will be prepared on a "grill", as they say "fingers licked". Free for everyone! -
