The Green Festival on Timbro was held for the fourth year in a row on Wednesday in Dudan Park in Kaštel Kambelovac. The large attendance of children and parents, and the unity of the participants in this humanitarian gathering, added to the significance of this commendable event. The organizer, Kućica sretnog detjenjstva (House of Happy Childhood) and the co-organizer, KUD Karol Wojtyla, which is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year, provided all attendees with countless interesting events that took place partly on the stage, but also at numerous stands and on the ground in the park.
The activities on stage began with the performance of the Kaštela majorettes, and then other stage activities followed, the K7 dance club presented itself with children aged four to fifteen, who dance HIP HOP and in a dance school, and achieved first places and numerous medals in dance competitions wherever they performed. Then the children's performances How Beautiful It Is to Be a Woman, Stories from the Old Kaštila and Kambelov's Stories. The two-hour time could be said to be too short to actively follow the events on and off stage, but the children had the opportunity to choose the activities that interested them most and get involved in some of them. So the little future artists could participate in playing with homemade plasticine, and in Ina Jerković's painting workshop.
Children interested in sports were able to actively participate in the workshop of the Obi karate club, which operates in Kaštel Novi and Kambelovac, and they gladly respond to such actions because they believe that all children should join some kind of sport because it strengthens their cognitive functions during training, which means that they will be more organized and better, which will help them both in school and in their later lives.
Kud Ante Zaninović organized a small folklore workshop, and not far from them, firefighters from Kaštel Gomilica presented interesting games for children. Commander Ivan Sanader told us that they are always happy to join humanitarian work for a better Kaštela. With their participation, they want to attract children and young people to show them what firefighters do, so that from the age of six they have the opportunity to join their ranks, participate in competition programs, and then, with further advancement, move to higher groups and thus reach a certain age of majority and become operational members of the society.
The children also had the opportunity to see Elza, a search dog who, together with Bruno Čapet, makes up the K9 team. Within the HGSS, the mountain rescuers wanted to present their basic equipment at the green festival and give the citizens of Kaštela basic information about their work. In the case of rescue in the mountains, they also have a helicopter at their disposal, so they are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and citizens can count on them. The children were particularly interested in the zip line, which they were able to try out in person, and they enjoyed it. The Malačka HPD said that they were happy to participate in humanitarian events, and, having learned from previous experience, they realized that it is a good idea to offer children sweets, the sale of which donates funds to the Kaštela Association of the Physically Disabled.
This year, the Kaštela Red Cross Society is joining the event again, providing first aid, and for all those interested, there are also journalist workshops, competitive games for children and parents, and an interesting performance, Circus City. Members of the Naša dica association, who work with children with special needs, provide psychological counseling, educate educators, and have assistants in the kindergarten and at the Juraj Bonači center, also joined in.
The Association of the Physically Disabled of Kaštela performed the play Miljenko and Dobrilo, which was partly changed and adapted to their needs and abilities, and in a conversation with the main actress Miljenko Biliškov, we learned that for 19 years she has been happy to participate in plays and various dramatic activities organized for them by the Association, and for this occasion, beautiful costumes were made especially for them, which the actors wore in the play. Considering the content-filled numerous activities from the House of Happy Childhood, Marlena Miletić is satisfied with this year's green festival.
- I am delighted with the attendance and the enthusiasm of the children and their parents, as well as the sheer number of associations that responded to contribute to this Green Festa at Timbar. They enabled the collection of funds for the TI Kaštela association, and it is equally important that the children were directed to various activities through their participation, which is a great success for them because they actively spend their time as soon as we take them away from the screen - concluded Miletić.
