
The Croatian Ministry of Defense has announced a public tender for the contractual recruitment of 250 soldiers/sailors. The start of the contractual military service, which lasts two years, is July 21, 2025. Persons of both sexes can apply for the tender, the Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday.
Candidates will be recruited according to their place of service: Benkovac, Bjelovar, Gospić, Karlovac, Knin, Lučko, Molunat, Mali Lošinj, Našice, Petrinja, Ploče, Pula, Slunj, Split, Varaždin, Velika Gorica, Zagreb and Zemunik Donji.
The probationary period for contract soldiers/sailors lasts six months, according to the Ministry of Defense.
The public competition, which was announced on June 27th, is open to people of both sexes.
Candidates for soldiers/sailors must meet the requirements for admission to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, which are prescribed in Articles 34 and 35 of the Act on Service in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, the statement states.
Special requirements for the admission of soldiers/sailors are: at least completed secondary school education, at most 30 years of age by the end of 2025, and successfully completed a voluntary military training program.
Soldiers/sailors whose service ended at their personal request, with an honorable discharge, without the right to a pension, may also be accepted into military service if they are not older than 40 years of age and who meet the necessary legal requirements.
Before being accepted into the Croatian Armed Forces, candidates will undergo a prescribed selection procedure.
Applications for the competition are submitted to the regional Department of Defense Affairs according to the candidate's place of residence or to the Personnel Management Center, Ilica 256, 10 000 Zagreb, no later than July 16, 2025.
