WORKS COULD START IN SEPTEMBER, WITH A COMPLETION DEADLINE OF 2028
A contract for the construction of a part of the secondary sewage and water supply network in the area above the main road, for a part of Kaštel Lukšić, Rudin and Radun, as part of the so-called "B package", was signed today in the premises of the City Administration. The signing was attended on behalf of the City by Mayor Denis Ivanović and his deputy Antonio Budimir, Director of ViK Miroslav Delić and Director of the selected contractor, Inero doo from Split, Ilija Naletilić.
- As part of the first phase of the agglomeration project, more than 100 kilometers of sewage and almost 80 kilometers of water supply networks were built in the area of Kaštela and Trogir. We are now moving into the second phase of works and this is the last contract we are signing, as contracts for Slatine, Okrug and Seget have previously been signed. With the implementation of this new contract, Kaštela will be almost completely covered by modern water and communal infrastructure, which is of great importance for the population, but also for the further development of the economy and tourism of the entire region – said the director of the Water Supply and Sewerage Department, Miroslav Delić.

- We have been waiting for this package for a long time, a lot of citizens are calling and asking when it will start. Of course, people are without sewage and they must be eager to finally be connected. The project is worth 32 million euros including VAT, it is mostly financed from European funds, and a smaller percentage comes from the development fee and a smaller part from the city budget. With that, we have completed three packages. There is still something left that is not included in these packages and that we are already designing in cooperation with Vodovod. Some projects already have building permits. Ultimately, whether we will manage to find funds from European Union funds or the ministry, we will decide that in the coming days. If not, I have already told the director of ViK that the City is ready to allocate part of its funds so that we can connect other citizens – said Ivanović on that occasion.
Apparently, work could start after the season, or at the beginning of September. However, now the first thing to do is to design, or create a work schedule.
- After the well-done projects of the agglomeration of Trilj, Sinj and Brnaz, we are pleased to now be taking on a new project that is a new challenge for us. I believe that we will prove ourselves here, we have our own resources, people, machines and engineers. We are also seeking the support of the local community and are confident that we will complete the work without any problems. So, as soon as we complete the necessary projects for individual sections, where opportunities open up for us, without disrupting the tourist season, we will start work. We believe that three years is quite a sufficient period to complete the work. I must mention that we will complete the agglomeration of Brnaz around Velika Gospa, and we will transfer machines and people to this work.
The construction of the Kaštela, Trogir, Seget, Okrug and Slatine subsystems will fully realize the Kaštela-Trogir agglomeration project, which will expand the water supply network in the area of Kaštela, Trogir and Čiovo to an additional 7.700 residents (2.548 connections), increasing the connection rate to 99 percent, while at the same time 32.477 residents (8.613 connections) will be connected to the drainage system, which will increase the connection rate from the current 45 percent to 98 percent.
As a reminder, the Project for Improving the Water and Communal Infrastructure of the Kaštela-Trogir Agglomeration is worth a total of EUR 244,8 million (excluding VAT) and is co-financed with 70 percent of the European Union's grant from the Cohesion Fund. The project is being implemented by the Split Waterworks and Sewerage Authority, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, Croatian Waters, the cities of Kaštela, Trogir and Split, and the municipalities of Okrug and Seget.
