On Saturday morning, the exhibition spaces of the Kaštela City Museum served as a venue for artistic expression by young creatives in collaboration with the Department of Visual Culture and Fine Arts of the Split Academy of Arts. The final workshop was led by students Emma Biuk and Marija Bare.
The first group, led by Emma Buik, had as a reference the work "New Babylonia" Bruno Paladin, and tempera was chosen as the technique. Biuk is a graduate of UMAS, focused on painting and workshops, and working with children. She is oriented towards teaching as well as painting, hoping that there will be room for both in her career. The children each received a copy of "New Babylon", a work created in 1999 using mixed media, which served as a reference and inspiration for their colorful and abstract creations. By interpreting what they saw and letting their imagination run wild, the results were complex and unique works.
The second group is in charge of Maria Bare, also a graduate of the Department of Visual Culture and Fine Arts, and her work is "Skipping Rope" Tisje Kljakovic Braic. She is in the process of realizing her graduation project that reinterprets drawings and memories from her childhood, both her own and those of the children she had the opportunity to work with. In this workshop, she introduced the participants to the stylized illustrations of the collection of works "Oni 2", so the preparatory work consisted of adding elements to the existing illustrations by Tisja Kljaković Braić, and quickly sketching the outlines of part of the group playing the game 'Black Queen'.
The main work - "Rope Jumping" - was reinterpreted using a combined technique of tempera, cardboard, and the use of rope to give the works a kinetic component. The children in both groups skillfully and faithfully transferred the original works to paper and completed the workshops just before their parents arrived, passing the last workshop of this academic year with an excellent grade.
You can see the works of Bruno Paladin and Tisja Kljaković Braić at Vitturi Castle, while the Kaštela City Museum and UMAS announce the return of art workshops in the fall, at the beginning of the new academic year. The workshops will be announced in due course, along with contact information for registration. The workshops are free, and the number of participants is limited.
