DATA FOR THE FIRST FOUR MONTHS OF 2025.
The public bicycle system in Kaštela was officially launched in September 2022, when six bicycle stations with 60 public bicycles in the area from Sućurac to Štafilić were available for use by the citizens of Kaštela.
Last year, Kaštela was the fourth best city in terms of bike rentals, right after Split, Zagreb and Osijek. Demand for the service in the first months of 2025, as expected, depended on weather conditions.
This year, a lower number of rentals was recorded in January and April, while the better weather in March contributed to a 20 percent increase in the number of rides, comparable to 2024. The increase in demand and the large number of rentals, especially in the season, have raised the issue of a larger number of new bicycle stations in Kaštela, which Nextbike has discussed with the City.

- Nextbike bicycles and our team are ready for the season and an increase in the number of rides and a larger number of tourists as users, and we expect even more local residents on bicycles and a continued increase in the number of rides during the season. Encouraged by the aforementioned increase in demand, we have already opened the topic of new bicycle stations with the City of Kaštela. The locations of potential new stations will be determined according to the data we have collected from users and the proposals received from users and citizens of Kaštela, but they have not yet been defined in detail. We are always happy to hear suggestions that we try to take into account and incorporate into our usage analyses - Nextbike told us.
Six bicycle stations have been set up in Kaštela: in Sućurac next to the City Administration, in Gomilica near the Fire Department, in Kambelovac on the Brčko River, in Lukšić on Glavice Beach, in Stari on Štalija, in Novi in Đardin and in Štafilić near the Rotondo Tower.
A total of 30 electric and 30 classic bicycles have been installed at the stations, which were financed by the "Choose a Bicycle" project, worth a total of 13.6 million kuna. This is a project in which the City of Kaštela, together with Split, Solin, Trogir, Podstrana, Klis, Dugopolje and Dicma, are partners in the project to develop a public bicycle system in the Split Urban Agglomeration area.
