
A man (32) called the Kaštela Police Station on Thursday, January 29th at around 9:40 a.m. and made death threats to police officers.
Upon receiving the report, the police immediately took measures and actions to find the person. In the afternoon, in Kaštel Novi, police officers from the Special and Intervention Police Unit spotted a passenger vehicle without registration plates, which was suspected of containing the aforementioned person, and they tried to stop it using sound and light signals, but the driver ignored the orders and fled. The vehicle was soon stopped on a gravel road in the town of Rudine, after which the driver and passenger fled on foot. Police officers soon found and arrested them. It was determined that the vehicle was being driven by a 33-year-old man, while the aforementioned 32-year-old man was a passenger in the vehicle.
- Upon completion of the criminal investigation, the 32-year-old was handed over to the detention supervisor with a criminal charge on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of threats and coercion against an official, while the investigating judge ordered pretrial detention.
The 33-year-old was taken to the competent misdemeanor court with an indictment. It was determined that he was driving an unregistered vehicle, and although his driving license was revoked and annulled due to the 12 negative points he had accumulated. As he is a repeat offender of serious traffic violations, who has been legally punished twice in the last three years, the court was recommended to order his detention, impose a prison sentence of 60 days, a fine of 650 euros and a protective measure of a ban on driving category B motor vehicles for 12 months, as well as the permanent seizure of the vehicle - the police announced.
The court released him.
