The third costume quiz organized by KU Polantan, which took place last night at the MaMa cafe bar in Kaštel Gomilica, brought great fun under masks, but also showed the strong competitive spirit of the teams that fought for valuable prizes.
The masquerade quiz aroused great interest this year, and a record number of teams registered. In addition to knowledge about masquerades, the association and its activities, and a good atmosphere, the emphasis was on creativity, so in addition to prizes for the participating teams, prizes were also awarded for the best female and male mask, the best table, and a special surprise prize.
– An exceptionally large number of teams applied for this year's quiz. We must have 15 applications that were not accepted, given the limit of 27 tables. This year we decided to give out prizes for all teams, as well as special prizes for the best female and male mask, the best table and a surprise prize. The questions were humorous in nature, and related to masquerades, our association, travel and similar topics – told us the president of the Polantana Community Center Ivan Babić.
Last night's masquerade quiz was just the introduction to the rich program that the Polantana Cultural Center is preparing for next week. The program begins with a masquerade ball on Friday, February 6th, and continues with the Children's Carnival, the 31st Kambelovo Carnival, and the 20th County Masquerade on Sunday, February 8th.
- For the first time in ten years, we are organizing an open masquerade ball in Kaštel Kambelovac, which will be held at the Ballet School Hotel starting at 20 p.m. Entry is free for everyone, with a mandatory mask. We expect between 200 and 300 visitors, and drink prices will be promotional. Sunday is reserved for the traditional carnival program. The children's carnival starts at 13 p.m. in front of the Ballet School, while the big Kambel carnival starts at 15 p.m. from Marina Kaštela, along the traditional route to the bridge in Kambelovac. The events were combined due to bad weather conditions last weekend, when the children's carnival had to be postponed - announced Babić.
There is no rest for the Polantana Carnival Association, so after their own carnival, they will also be performing in Rijeka, Benkovac, Proložec, Split, and at the Donjokaštela carnival on Shrove Tuesday. This day marks the end of this year's carnival, and the association is entering its 30th anniversary.
