After almost four decades, the Riva bakery in Kaštel Kambelovac, better known as Peco, no longer operates. This bakery, which will be remembered for the best burek not only in Kaštela but also beyond, is permanently closed. It is a bakery through which generations have passed. The popularity of the bakery has not waned all these years since it was opened by Frok Pecolaj, who with his wife met his retirement there.
It was a place not only for excellent burek, but also a place for young people to socialize. There was hardly a person in the city who had not tried burek in Pece at least once. Many came from as far as Split to eat freshly baked burek after a night out in the early morning hours.
The reasons for the closure of Peca are known only to those closest to the family, because they were looking for a permanent employee back in September 2025. However, there were already hints of closure in mid-December. Which is what happened on December 31, 2025. The notice of the closure of Peca was also displayed on the door of the building and the space has already been advertised for rent with the date January 1, 2026.
