Huge temperature differences prevailed in Croatia last night. For example, in Zagorje the air temperature was around -5 degrees Celsius, while in the Dubrovnik area it was as high as +16°C. In Dalmatia the differences are also great, with the coldest being in the Knin area, where it is just above zero, it says Dalmacija danas.
In the last 24 hours, until this morning, parts of Dalmatia received extreme precipitation. For example, Zadvarje and Vrgorac received 169 liters of rain per square meter, significantly more than the average for the entire month.
There will still be rain, and in some places it will be more significant. While no snow is expected in Dalmatia today, not even in the mountains, the Dalmatian mountains will turn white by the end of Tuesday, and a large part of the Dalmatian hinterland on Wednesday. As things stand, snow will fall in places along the coast, mainly in the second part of the day.
The weather will stabilize on Thursday, but the night from Thursday to Friday will be extremely cold. Temperatures will drop below zero across the island and coast. A new warm spell with southerly winds and rain is expected at the end of Friday, but it will be colder again for the weekend.
Monday Dalmatia will see mostly cloudy weather with rain. However, precipitation is expected to stop by the end of the day and in the evening. There will be no snow even in the highest mountains. Bura will blow in the northern and part of the central Adriatic, and jugo only in the far south. The highest daily temperatures will be very uneven; from 4°C in the Knin area to 16°C in southern Dalmatia.
Tuesday will be cloudy with rain, and by the end of the day, locally over 40 liters per square meter will fall. Towards the end of the precipitation, the rain may turn into snow first in the Knin area, then in Ravni Kotari, and it is possible that it will temporarily also turn into snow in the Zadar area and part of the Dalmatian hinterland. However, precipitation will stop in the evening. Moderate to strong bora will blow to Punta Planka, with a southerly jugo that will turn into bora late in the evening. There will still be large temperature differences from north to south of Dalmatia. The highest daily temperatures will range from 0°C in the Knin area to 16°C in the south.
Wednesday will be a kind of culmination of this week's weather events in Dalmatia. It will be mostly cloudy, with rain, showers and thunderstorms at night, and in the mountains the rain will turn into snow. From the morning there will be snow in the Dalmatian hinterland, and in addition to rain, sleet and snow will be in some places along the coast of northern and central Dalmatia and in the higher areas of the Dalmatian islands. Thus, snow cover will form in many parts of the Dalmatian hinterland, and in the evening it is not excluded that a thinner snow cover will form in some places along the coast. During the evening in northern Dalmatia, precipitation will cease. Moderate to strong bora will blow, at the foot of Velebit with gusts of over 100 km/h, and stormy tramontana gusts on the open sea. It will be colder, with the highest daily temperatures mostly from -1 to 8°C, warmer only at the beginning in the far south.
In short, Wednesday could look very similar to the scenario that occurred on November 22, 2025. Do not plan on hitting the roads outside of Split (maybe even in Split) without winter equipment.
Very cold mornings, temporary stabilization, then new south wind and rain
On Thursday will be variable, with occasional light rain and snow at the beginning of the night, but clearing up during the day. It will be very cold, with the highest daily temperatures from -1 to 7°C, moderate frost in the Dalmatian hinterland in the evening, and light frost along the coast and on the islands.
On Friday morning Clear and very cold, in the valleys of Zagora temperatures below -10 in some places. Moderate frost is possible along the coast! Cloudiness with rain, showers and thunderstorms at the end of the day and especially in the evening and noticeable warming.
It will be variable, especially in the first part. Saturday when the rain will turn to snow again in the mountains, and snow is also possible in parts of the Dalmatian hinterland. Precipitation will gradually cease during the day. The tramontana will blow, followed by the bora. The highest daily temperatures will be from 4 to 11°C.
On Sunday Partly sunny and cool. Morning frost across the Dalmatian hinterland. Daily highs from 3 to 11°C.
