Members of the local board of Kaštel Sućurac distributed cod to their residents this Christmas Eve. The distribution was planned to take place on the waterfront, but due to weather conditions, it was moved to the premises of the Kampanela Community Center, known as the Old School, which are filled with a festive atmosphere and smells.
The president of the local board of Kaštel Sućurac, Ivana Delić, emphasizes that this year, for the first time, they provided around 250 portions of cod in white sauce for the residents of Sućurac in cooperation with the city and city sponsors.
- Our goal is to bring the Christmas atmosphere to our town, cheer people up and allow those who don't have anything to enjoy themselves. Many people, especially retirees, may not even have enough for cod this year. So today, on Christmas Eve, we decided to have this get-together - continues Delić.
The Deputy Mayor of Kaštela, Antonio Budimir, was also present at the cod distribution, and he said:
- We gathered at the premises of the carnival association Kampanel in Kaštel Sućurac for the traditional distribution of cod. As you can see, there are a large number of our fellow citizens among us. We have a significant number of retirees who do not have to prepare cod at home this way, but will have the opportunity to socialize a little here, enjoy beautifully prepared cod and take it with them, considering the number of portions that have been prepared.
- I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our fellow citizens a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2026. May it be as healthy, peaceful and joyful as the previous one - Budimir said to citizens on the eve of the holiday.
Despite the bad weather, the distribution of cod was marked by unity, good holiday spirit, laughter and joy among those gathered, and in such a mood, the residents of Sućurac happily prepare for the arrival of Christmas with cod and fritters.
