The Resnik Airport is purchasing equipment worth 350.000 euros to modernize the parking system, which will allow passengers to enter and exit automatically without stopping at the ramps, and the system will also include cameras for recognizing license plates.
The upgrade of the existing system includes the installation of 12 cameras for automatic license plate recognition, nine new ramps, and six modern terminals adapted for buses.
The most important change concerns the northern parking lot, where all existing equipment will be replaced, while additional anti-abuse ramps will be installed in the southern parking lot and bus station.
Cameras will automatically recognize vehicle license plates from up to 12 meters away, allowing for quick passage without stopping. Subscribers and employees will be able to pass through without stopping as the system will automatically raise the ramp as soon as it recognizes their license plate, which speeds up passage especially during morning and evening rush hours. Tall vehicles such as vans and buses will be detected by height sensors, which will automatically issue more expensive tickets.
Double anti-fraud ramps
To prevent abuse, it is planned to install double ramps with a so-called "interlock" function. This system will allow only one vehicle to be between the two ramps at a time, which prevents a driver from leaving with someone else's card or two vehicles from passing through with one payment. The ramps will lower in a maximum of 1,5 seconds, and the built-in impact detection will automatically stop the ramp from lowering if it touches a vehicle.
Two automated teller machines are also being introduced, one of which will work exclusively with bank cards, while the other will be able to combine cards, coins and banknotes, as well as purchase daily, two-day and weekly tickets. Both will have a touch screen and a VoIP system for immediate communication with the operator in case of problems. Battery power will allow operation for 15 to 20 minutes in the event of a power outage.
The installation of the new equipment will take four months, and bids are due by December 23. The supplier must ensure the installation of the equipment, on-site staff training, and create an as-built project and user instructions in Croatian.
