The creative workshop "Christmas Greetings Like Old Times" organized by the Kaštela City Library under the name was held today at the Vitturi Castle in Kaštel Lukšić. Children listened to stories about Saint Lucia, sowed wheat and made Christmas greetings with the aim of getting to know traditions and customs during this holiday season.
The workshop began with an introduction to the feast of Saint Lucia, where the children had the opportunity to learn more about the legends and stories associated with her. After the initial part of the workshop, the participants moved on to sowing wheat, which is associated with the day we celebrate Saint Lucia, and which symbolizes new life, growth and renewal. Finally, they prepared Christmas cards using paper cutouts, markers and stickers.
At the workshop, we had the opportunity to talk to Ivana Jakšić, one of the librarians at GKK:
- During Advent, the library organizes numerous workshops. One of them, this workshop, is dedicated to the feast of Saint Lucy. At that workshop, we first read about the customs associated with that feast, sowed wheat and made Christmas cards. There was a great turnout, the children enjoyed themselves, 16 children participated, who are happy to respond and come to our workshops. The next workshop is being held on Tuesday under the title "Snowy Idyll", so I hope that the turnout will be great this time too. The motif on the cards is the Holy Family, Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and a stable. We also had a suitable text, and the children took the cards home.
There was no shortage of festive atmosphere at the workshop led by professional librarians Ivana Jakšić and Katarina Modrić, and there was no shortage of sweet treats to delight the youngest.
