Men's Health Month was marked by participation in the Beard Auction
Last month was marked by concern for the physical and mental health of men. Known as Movember, it was also marked at Cemex by participating in the Beard Auction humanitarian campaign.
In this campaign, men auction off their beards, with all proceeds going to local cancer charities. Cemex candidates who auctioned off their beards were shaved off last Saturday along with other participants. The company and its employees jointly donated 3.000 euros to the auction, and over 203.000 euros were raised for the fight against cancer in two months and over 40 events. The funds will be donated to the Split County League Against Cancer to purchase a new MRI scanner for the Split Clinical Hospital.
"Given that health care and safety at work are our business priority, we are happy to get involved in all actions aimed at raising awareness about important health issues. Men are still reluctant to talk about health, assuming that it means showing weakness, and the point of such actions is to provide a space to hear problems and provide support to those in need," he said. Fabjan Ruscic, Cemex's occupational health and safety manager.
Cemex continuously provides its employees with education on the importance of healthy lifestyle habits, from regular physical activity to proper nutrition. The company is a holder of the "Health-Friendly Company" certificate, awarded by the Ministry of Health and the Croatian Institute of Public Health as part of the national "Living Healthy" program, and conducts numerous internal educational and informational activities aimed at preserving health.
