The Lintar Agricultural and Veterans' Cooperative has completed this year's harvest.
This year's olive harvest season at the Cemex mine set a new record. Although the harvest of around 16,5 tons of fruit did not surpass last year's quantities, the quality of the olives enabled record quantities of Lintar organic extra virgin olive oil, around 2.400 liters to be precise.
In addition to the members of the cooperative, this year's harvest was also attended by members of the Dalmacijacement Association of Volunteers and Veterans of the Homeland War, numerous employees of Cemex and Reciklator, and teachers and students of the Solin Eco-Schools.
"Hard work and sweat, fortunately, without tears, are responsible for the record result in terms of the amount of oil produced, which is also of top quality this year. On behalf of all cooperative members, I thank the volunteers who helped us finish the harvest and achieve this great result," he said. Ante Grubisic, manager of the Lintar Agricultural Veterans' Cooperative.

"Since the early 2000s, when the rehabilitation and rehabilitation of our mine began, we have been growing olives as an indigenous species, and at the beginning we never dreamed that it would turn into a project that encompasses all the best from environmental protection to the inclusion of our people and the communities in which we operate. Year after year and with new records, Lintar proves to be one of the projects that is an example of sustainable development, which we are particularly proud of," she added. Merica Pletikosic, Head of Sustainable Business at Cemex.
Since 2017, Lintar extra virgin olive oil has been certified as an eco-production product and has won numerous awards and recognitions at olive and oil mill events. In addition, the cooperative received a group award from the City of Kaštela in 2018 for its contribution to olive cultivation in reclaimed mine areas.
Since 2011, when it was founded at the initiative of members of the Dalmacijacement Association of Volunteers and Veterans of the Homeland War, mostly employees of the Cemex company, the cooperative has been taking care of the olive groves in Rudnik, planted during its rehabilitation and recultivation. By continuously planting new trees, the cooperative members are further expanding the olive groves and thus contributing to the restoration of the rehabilitated areas.
