Traditionally, on the eve of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, wreaths were laid and candles were lit in Kaštela for all Croatian veterans and the first Croatian president, Dr. Franjo Tuđman.
Delegations from the City of Kaštela, representatives of numerous associations, as well as individuals, visited the monument to the first Croatian president in Kaštel Lukšić and the memorial in the Memorial Park on Malačka on Tuesday morning, and everything was preceded by a prayer of absolution in the City Hall in Sućurac led by Don Ivan Delić, pastor of the Parish of St. George the Martyr.
In addition to laying flowers and lighting candles, representatives of the City of Kaštela and the City Council, the Association of Parents of Fallen Veterans, Hvidre, the Stina Pradidova Association, the Kaštela Anti-Fascist Association, the Office of the Chief of the Croatian Army and other associations originating from the Homeland War, individual civil associations and political parties, also offered deep prayers for the souls of all fallen and deceased veterans and creators of the Croatian state in Kaštel Lukšić and Malačka on this day.
Deputy Mayor Antonio Budimir emphasized on this occasion:
- This is my first time as Deputy Mayor to participate in this tradition of remembering those who gave the most they had for a free and independent Republic of Croatia. This was a thousand-year-old dream of our ancestors, and it was realized by Croatian defenders, led by the late President Dr. Franjo Tuđman. For me personally, this act has a special meaning because I am the child of a Croatian defender. My father participated in the Homeland War and fortunately, he returned home to his family. Many, unfortunately, were not so lucky. That is why it is a great honor for me to pay tribute in this symbolic way to all those who gave the most for our Croatia.
